Q&A: What is the human body naturally intended to look like?

Question by Kendall Hart: What is the human body naturally intended to look like?
Please help settle this debate. A friend of mine says the human body is intended by nature to be lean with dense muscle mass. I question him for the following reasons.1) I’ve travelled to countries with a more rural way of life where people are smaller built because they are forced by necessity to be more physically active. Those people tend to live very long and be healthy.
2) Animals in the wild are more sleek than muscle and they are certainly living as nature intended them too.
3) I don’t know if nature intended women to have “Dense muscle mass”. Eww.
Anyone who can give me an unbiased scientific or medical opinion I would appreciate. I just don’t know what his sources are. I thought physical activity and diet determined health, not muscle mass.
BTW my friend is a bodybuilder who always implies that bodybuilders have optimum health, are the ideal, etc. I always like to prick his bubble. I believe there are other ways to achieve health than just bodybuilding but right now I don’t know if he is right or if he’s pulling his facts out of his backside.

I think the best example of the beauty of the human body are male and female bodybuilders. People are meant to have muscle, that’s what gives us shape.Know better? Leave your own answer in the comments!

body building is not natural. it is not the natural state to repetitively lift weights. michaelangelo’s david is the ideal human form.

people were meant to be small, have lean muscle, and be quick – there was no such thing as bodybuilders back then or heavy weight lifting. i think people who have huge muscles look GROSS. its not normal. i dont think its natural when those type of people are taking supplements to get up to that abnormal muscle size. not dense muscle, lean muscle -

Muscles are good to have, I wouldn’t think that you’d need to be a big bulky body builder type though…
More just the natural muscle you’d get from daily life, however with things like: tv,computers, games and excess and unneeded food consumption, alot of people now need gyms and need to make the extra effort to be healthy…

Lean, low body fat but not overly muscular (for men and women)
No matter what your body shape is (you can be female, very vey pear shaped, and lean/toned), you are not meant to be overweight, or skinny and flabby.
